Dr. Manal Hussein is a distinguished leader with over three decades of experience spanning Egypt's financial services, public, and private sectors.
As founder and Chairperson of e-Finance (2005–2010), Egypt's leading electronic payments company, she played a pivotal role in shaping the country's financial infrastructure. She later chaired Tamweel Mortgage Finance, adding direct board-level oversight within the non-banking financial sector, and has served on the boards of Misr Iran Development Bank (MIDBANK) and Arab Investment Bank (AIBANK).
As Chairperson of Orascom Development Egypt (2014–2020), the largest subsidiary of Orascom Development Holding, Dr. Manal led the transformation of El Gouna into a carbon-neutral city, making it the first destination in Africa and the Middle East to receive the UNEP-sponsored Global Green City Award in 2014.
Prior to her private sector career, Dr. Manal served 23 years in the Egyptian government, including nine years as Deputy Minister of Finance and a prior tenure as Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade.
Dr. Manal holds a B.Sc. in Mass Communication from Cairo University, an MA in Public Administration from the American University in Cairo, recipient of the Frank G. Wisner Award, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration with highest honors from Cairo University. She also completed Harvard Kennedy School's Executive Program for Leaders in Development.
